Feet Looking Rough After A Long Walk to the Temples? Try Fish Therapy!

In addition to a day of exploring Thailand’s featured factories and shops, our group of adventurers continued their Sunday Funday shenanigans with a walk around the temples and markets of Chiang Mai.

First, the group crossed the canal and visited smaller temples nearby including the Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan temples and MANY MORE.

Because of the recent death of Thailand’s King, temples have been keeping their hours open longer, granting more opportunity to pay respects.  Even now, after the initial mourning period, there are many public payments of respect to their King as seen below at the local market.

After dinner, we noticed our feet looking rough after a long day of walking.  The solution: Fish therapy!  Thailand offers many tourist attractions and services, such as market cabaret-style shows, Thai massages, and freshly frozen ice cream made before your eyes.  But none seemed as interesting (and ticklish) as fish therapy.  Fish therapy is a cosmetic and spa service in which your feet are submerged in water tanks full of small fish.  These fish swarm your feet and eat away at the dead skin cells, to reveal smoother and softer feet.  Additionally, there are claims that fish therapy increases skin cell turnover, improves blood circulation in lower extremities, and reduce stress.  These fish are hard workers!  As seen in the pictures, not all were convinced of these health benefits.  Some could not even stand the sensation for longer than a minute!  No matter, it was an interesting experience for an interesting memory.
