Borsang Umbrella Village and Shinawatra Thai Silk Factory

Today, we visited the Borsang umbrella village where local artisans make paper umbrellas and parasols by hand. They also have a painting station where artisans will draw beautiful designs on many different mediums. Many students had designs painted on their phone case covers.

We also visited a Thai silk factory. The factory has their own silk worms and they make beautiful peices from the silk produced on premesis.
Silk worms form a cocoon from the outside towards the inside. The cocoons are placed in hot water and then the silk threads are extracted from around the cocoons. One way to tell if a product is real silk is to burn a small part of it, burnt real silk will smell like burnt hair.

  1. This blog aware me about different programs which can become very useful for our friends and kids. Few websites provide combined courses and few of the are separately for single subject. Glad to get this information.
